The update sermon of the enlightened Savak Buddha Bana Bhante (Ven. Sadhana Nanda Mahathero)

1

I am going to sermon you the gist of Buddhism. One cannot put Buddhism into practice if they indulge in caste-partition. If one declaims as he or she is a Cakma (Bangladeshee), Barua (Bangladeshee), Marma (Bangladeshee), American, Thai he sure may not be able to practice Buddhism. Why will they don’t do so? Cause, if one practices caste-partition then ignorance enter into his/her mind. An ignorant mind can never escape from Sufferings. Remember that in Buddhism there is no caste-partition. In the concept of this Dharma, One cannot utter ‘I am Cakma’, ‘I am Barua’ and ‘I am Marma’. If you declare so, then it will not be Buddhism; real Buddhist cannot declare so. Teacher Buddha is against the caste-partition. HE did not confer entrance caste-partition in his propagated Dharma. HE defined caste-partition as an expression of futility, immorality and ignorance. I sermon, you will not practice caste-partition; put down it. Knowledge enters into mind if one gives caste-partition up. A Knowable mind can do escape from Sufferings. Once I said a Cakma named Kirbedan that Bana Bhante is not Cakma even; HIS conscience of caste had wiped out. In response he said to me – everyone will say you Cakma even so you don’t think so. Then HE said - Nope, you say so but I am not. If I am so, then I have to suffer. As I have no conscience of Cakma so I live in happiness. Understand? Teacher Buddha permitted Khattiya (ancient caste), Brahmana (ancient caste), Baishya (ancient caste), Shuddra (ancient caste) to go into forth. By going into forth they left their caste, clan and became Sakya Putta as named. And in Sangha also their right is kept in equally. At the same time Khattiya Bhikkhu became Arahant (enlightened one) and also Brahmana, Baishya, Shuddra. Why did Teacher Buddha enter them into Sasana (the order)? Cause, in Buddhism there is no caste-partition. And do you know? How did they able to become Arahant? Cause, they did not declaim that ‘I am Khattiya’, ‘I am Brahmana’, ‘I am Baishya’, and ‘I am Shuddra’; so they became Arahant. In present also, if you vocalize ‘I am Cakma’, ‘I am Barua’ and ‘I am Marma’ you can never be Arahant. Constantly I am discoursing, in Buddhism there is no caste-partition. If you practice caste-partition ignorance enter into your mind. An ignorant mind suffers. In sufferings where is Nibbana (extinction of all defilements of mind) Happiness? The ultimate goal of Buddhism is to achieve Nibbana. So Bhddhism is Nibbanistic Dhamma.

Teacher Buddha discourse Bhikkhu-Samana (Buddhist monks) to abstain from racism, jingoism, Pride-ism and marry-marry off. Knowledge have attained by avoiding these four matters. But if you relate with these four matters knowledge will not be attained. Bhikkhu-Samana can never say ‘I am so nationalist’, ‘and so nationalist’. Any sorts of race you assert you get sufferings. Bana Bhante has no race conscience. So HE has no sufferings.

Once a certain Bhikkuni, after attaining Arahanthood, had declared himself as a Buddha Daughter and having gone in front of the Buddha the Bhikkuni addressed himself as a real Buddha Daughter. Teacher Buddha accepted that as saying; actually, you are a real Buddha Daughter.

If you become Buddha Son, Buddha Daughter then your mind will be full in happiness and knowledge. As for a going forth have to be a Buddha Son and Buddha Daughter. You, laymen-laywomen do try to become Buddha Son and Buddha Daughter. If you attain Arahanthood, you will be Buddha Son, Buddha Daughter. In that time of Buddha, everyone wanted to become Arahant, so they became Buddha Son, Buddha Daughter.

Nibbana happiness attains from free of cost. One cannot pay for this happiness. Venerable Bhante asked laypeople either you feel happiness from freely or expensively? Only Nibbana happiness attains from freely. Lately you with your husband-wife, children enjoy the lay happiness, it is expensive happiness. Lay happiness is sky-touching in prices. I have proved the Buddha’s word that ‘Nibbana happiness is free of cost’. So I declaim, Nibbana happiness is attained by freely. It is not cheap even, solely free. Cheap things have their price also. But Nibbana happiness has no price. All of you have to try hard to attain Nibbana happiness.

Venerable Bana Bhante sermons – All of you do not try to put in the wrong place to anyone. It is sin. So do not try to do this. Remember that it is bad and you have to remorse for it. When I was in Danapata (Bhante’s meditation place) I heard from a certain man: Chief engineer of Kaptai dam was felt very remorse when he saw thousands of men helplessly crying and leaving their paternal domicile. Repeatedly he repentance that ohh! What I have done! I have made them homeless. Having driven these people out from their paternal habitat, we made them panicky and bewildered. Therefore he felt misery, didn’t he? He regretted those words for Pangs of conscience. Well, by making those peoples refugee, didn’t they make sin? The then government made sin, didn’t they? Why did the then government do so ignoring such people’s extreme objection? Cause, they had in power.

Recently also that tradition is going on. Now who is on power? Bangalis. So they seize your terra firma. This cannot be survived. They demand - it is our country; all land is ours. We do whatever we want. This Bangladesh is for Bangalis not for Cakmas, Marmas and Tripuras. Their activities represent these manners, isn’t it? You have no power so you have to go another place and naturally Bangalis have government power so they exist. For Kaptai dam, many Cakma families had moved out to India. In that time they felt heartless sufferings. Especially, those who had moved out to Arunacal Pradesh suffered much. In that long foot journey, many die of starvation and lack of medication. Many loss their dear wife, beloved husband, adoring son, ever loving daughter, compassionate mother and kind father in front of their eyes. The Arunacal’s Cakma have alleged these to me. I am observing, you are in great sufferings. At any how it is not fading. You think that whether you have government power you don’t have to suffer so bitterly. You may live happily. Actually one fell safe and sound if they have government power. They don’t have to the victim of oppression and domination. Teacher Buddha sermon – if king is own kind, law are favorable and all have right views then happiness is achieved. In here there is no king of own kind, no law are favorable and none are right viewer; so you feel sufferings. What will I discourse you? If there exists - Buddhist government, favorable law and right viewers then happiness can be achieved.
