At first, I would like to inform you that one of my books that was the first of its kind, published in Kolkata, India by venerable Sumanapal Bhikkhu in 2012 maybe, several years ago titled "Bouddha Darme Sankya Tatwya" (Theory of Number in Buddhism) in Bengali language. Unfortunately, it is not in my hand now. However, let us discuss about number theory on Buddha's teaching.
We all know - Number Theory or Theory of Number is a course of Mathematics. One familiar number 'zero' (0) was invented by Aryabhatta, a famous mathematician in ancient India or Jambudweep is known to all formally.
Bhagava Buddha incorporated this number system from an ancient saint. I will give you this name later. But you must never question about the teachings' of Buddha because it's unique in the world. Just stress on mundane system of his time and its influence on his teachings.
Shortly I layout some key points now that is the core on our knowing, such as:
1) 4 noble truths
2) 8 noble paths
3) 3 characteristics
4) 3 defilements
5) 12 causes of dependent origination
6) 9 virtues of Buddha
7) 6 virtues of Dhamma
8) 9 virtues of Sangha
9) 31 planes of existence
10) 2 kinds of meditation & its 50 other kinds.
11) 3 refugees
12) 5 precepts
13) 8 precepts
14) 10 precepts
15) 227 precepts
16) 5 worst kammas
17) 62 kinds of false views
18) 3 kinds of Buddhas
19) 28 Buddhas as a lineage
20) 37 kinds of Budhi related dhamma
21) 10 Paramitas
22) 500 previous life stories' of Goutama (Jataka)
23) 3 Pitaka

So, number system in Buddhism is a natural phenomena. Some 100% #fake news fed by communal racist yellow telegraphic (In south Asia, Muslims use 786 to identify themselves) media outlets are now debating on 969 in Bangladesh that is a matter of shame! Such heinous hate crime becomes rumour usual in the air of the country. Very tensed situation, of course!
It is our outlook to discover it what Bhagava Buddha invented more than 2500 years ago.
